The hull was built in Dave Jerome's shop using the original Purdy Boat Company plans.

This boat building project has an unusual beginning. It started out as a genealogy project which led to the discovery that I am a distant relative of the founders of the Purdy Boat Company.

While reading a book entitled "Boats by Purdy" written by Alan Dinn, I found that he had the complete drawings for a 18 foot race boat called a Biscayne Baby.

The boats were powered by a large Scripps F-6 racing engine which could propel the lightweight boat to over 40 mph. In the mid 1920's the Biscayne Baby's were a fast and lively boat for the era.

I talked to Alan and bought a set of plans from him and started looking for an engine.

Having the correct engine for the boat was important to me. After looking for a Scripps F-6 engine for over two years I finally found one in Detroit, Michigan.

The help of Dave Jerome was invaluable to me in getting started on the hull and restoring engine for this project.

The engine is now complete and running while the hull construction is well underway as the photos will show.
